SHAW U CLASS OF 1971 AT A GLANCE
Shaw University Class of 1971 knows that our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly through the actions of our initiatives. We see the value in everyone and we strive to be a catalyst for positive change. Since our beginnings as young professionals in 1971 embarking on our careers, we have been driven by the same ideals instilled in us as students of Shaw University. We are dedicated to supporting the university and acknowledging its contributions to our success.
CREATING A CLASS LEGACY
Class of 1971 Endowed Scholarship Fund
We have established an endowed scholarship in the name of the Class of 1971. Everything you donate this reunion year and over our next 5 year reunion will be tracked as reunion related if you select the class endowment fund when donating. Let's leave a lasting legacy for our class and support our beloved Shaw University.
Office of Institutional Advancement:
To establish a new fully operational endowed scholarship account, a minimum gift of
$25,000 must be established with the University. A down payment of $5,000 must be submitted to initiate endowment documentation. All Endowments may be paid in full
at the time of request or over a maximum of 5 years in equal increments. Endowments
over $25,000 will have the same criteria.
Upon completion of payment for the established endowment fund, interest from the
fund will be awarded on an annual basis, thereby providing scholarship funds in
perpetuity. The donor has the right to establish the criteria by which the recipient(s)
will be selected.
The Endowment in the minimum amount of $25,000, once paid in full, will be
invested for a minimum of one (1) year, and the respective Endowment Fund's
instruction, will stipulate that earnings will be the only source of scholarship (or
other) awards and that the principal must remain untouched in order to retain the
accounts' perpetuity.
The donor will be notified of the status of the scholarship on an annual basis.
Notes:
Any earnings not used for scholarship/grant will be placed back into the principal on
an annual basis. If the endowed scholarship is not funded in the set five-year period,
the funds will revert to the Shaw University Endowed Scholarship.
For additional information on establishing or making contributions to establish an
